A leading member of the majority New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko of the ruling government says the implementation of the e-visa policy is of urgency and critical.
In a post shared on his twitter handle on 16th July, 2022 says the government has considered the e-visa of utmost importance even though there are other important policies like making Ghana a major tourist attraction which are yet to be implemented.
“In order not to frustrate our own policy of making Ghana a major tourist destination, and tourism one of our biggest forex earners, speeding up on the e-visa policy is critical and, in fact, urgent,” he said.
This post followed the challenges in which the Ghana Missions Abroad (GMA) are currently facing and a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on 15th July, 2022.
According to the press release, Special Authorization or permit will be given to authorized travelers in order to make their travel.
“In this connection, the Ghana Airports Company is being requested to urgently notify all Airlines operating in Ghana to allow passengers with Special Authorization (Permit) issued by a Ghana Mission Abroad to travel to Ghana on their Airlines (Only passengers with such authorization should be allowed to board as such authorization will be required for the processing of visas-on-arrival).”
This solution seem temporary while the Ministry and appropriate personnels put measures in place to solve the challenge at hand.
