Fina Bans transgender From Participating in The Women’s Events If They Have Gone through Male Puberty

Federation Internationale de natation or International Swimming Federation (FINA), has made it known to all transgender athletes that they cannot take part in women’s athletics like swimming and race if they have gone through male puberty.
At a general congress on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Budapest, FINA requires that all transgender persons complete their transition at age 12 to participate in the competition.

FINA says it will establish a category for all transgender persons at the competitions. 71% of 152 members from FINA members voted for the policy being passed. The vote is said to be a first step in accepting transgender into athletics.
The Policy states that a transgender person can compete in the women category only if they have not gone through or experienced male puberty.

The President of FINA, Husain Al-Musallam, says the organization was trying to protect the athletes’ rights and competitive fairs.
