As the NDC primaries across the country hit up, candidates across the length and breadth are weighing their chances and Akatsi South is no exception.
Mr. Kpormatsi who is an old experienced person in Akatsi South politics is tipped ahead of the less fancied this time around Nugblega in the race per our underground research after speaking to delegates in 68 branches across the zones of the constituency.
It rather turns out to be according to unimpeachable sources close to us that in the early hours of Saturday, 25th March 2023 a meeting was held between Mr. Nugblega and Mr. Kpormatsi with the object of mooting the idea of merging.
Our source further indicated that in the said meeting, Mr. Nugblega pleaded with Mr. Kpormatsi to cut short his long held ambition which he has worked towards for more than two decades to allow him contest with his support since two different independent opinion polls put him ahead and the most likely contender between the duo.
But to his surprise, Mr. Kpormatsi declined the request on the grounds that he has been in the politics of AVENOR(Akatsi South) before he, Nugblega emerged recently and therefore more experienced and understands the very nuanced nature of the constituency and should rather be given the chance.
Mr. Kpormatsi on his side indicated that the base of the party are calling for him and so, if there could ever be a possible merger, which he considers most unlikely, it should be Mr. Nugblega rescinding his decision to contest in honour of the more experienced candidate with much clout.

Mr. Nugblega in his response indicated that he is ready to work twice as hard as he did in the 2018 primaries of the party which he came second to the sitting Member of Parliament, Hon. Benard Ahiafor who was recently enstooled as the Zikpuitor (Stool Father) of Development, a title conferred on him as part of the commissioning of an ultra modern 8 unit classroom block constructed through him by an NGO for the good people of Sesime.
The meeting ended in a stalemate.
However some avid supporters of Worfa William Kpormatsi as he is affectionately called indicated that they believed in his candidature and are solidly behind him and any attempt to betray their trust will amount to an end to his political career in the constituency because they believe his philanthropic acts over the years has earned him his place at the table in the primaries.
The primaries is slated for Saturday 13th May, 2023 after vetting which is scheduled for Volta Region from 3rd April to 5th April, 2023 for all aspirants at various centers in Hohoe, Ho and Dzodze.
