“Today I’m in a university in the United States teaching undergraduate students”
REDEEMER BUATSI
Redeemer Buatsi a communication research assistant and a Journalist stated on his Facebook page that;
“Our Own People Are Part Of Our Problems (maybe all the time)”.
He said this while sharing his experience at Ghana Institute Of Journalism), one of West Africa’s best communication schools (Ghana to be precise).
Redeemer is a research assistant at the University of Louisiana in Louisiana, USA.
From 2019 to 2022, he worked as a graduate assistant at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) for free.
Meanwhile, some lecturers began questioning his teacher about his authority to keep him (Redeemer) as a research assistant, despite the fact that he was not paid by the school and was not seeking compensation.
He stated that the other lecturers informed him that he was, first and foremost, unqualified to teach. He was not an official.
“Today I’m at a university in the United States teaching undergraduate students.” I’m teaching the same things I
learnt from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and applied all I learnt from Kodwo Jonas Anson Boateng,” he stated.
He further iterated that, lecturers and others in higher positions need to encourage the youth and offer them opportunities to learn as much
as they can.
People kept asking him questions about his lack of qualifications during his time as a graduate assistant at GIJ.
On the other hand, they claimed that the lecturer wanted to keep him from “learning,” but to their surprise, a larger university in one of the world’s most advanced countries thinks he’s good enough and has offered him the opportunity not only to study for a higher degree, but also to teach as a Graduate Assistant, a position I was deemed “unqualified for” in my country and school.
“Thank you, Dr. Kodwo Anson Boateng, for the many opportunities you keep giving to us, your students, to learn,
We publish and position ourselves for the better. “
