A press statement from the Ghana police have indicated that the chief of Sefwi Elinor and his brother have been arrested and the police are currently pursuing six others in connection with illegal mining in Sefwi Elinor township in Western North Region.
It is revealed that Nana Anini Baffour and his brother Kwadwo Affi were arrested following a police investigation of a video circulating on social media showing illegal mining activities in some compound houses in the town.

According the press statement from the police, investigation has so far discovered that out pits from Ule compound leading to the bedroom of the chief’s brother. Four other deep dug out -out pits have also been uncovered by the Police in other houses in the same vicinity.
It has also been disclosed that the chief, his brother and six other suspects are the main people or suspects behind the illegal mining activities.

The police then assure the general public that all those involved will be brought to face justice.
