The South Korean series (Squid Game) took the world by storm after its debut last year. The show broke Netflix streaming records, won numerous historic awards, and propelled its cast to global stardom.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show’s writer and director, writes in a letter to the show’s fans,
“Last year, it took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life.” Squid Game, on the other hand, only took 12 days to become the most popular Netflix series ever.”

Natives in the anti-utopia Korean drama gamble their lives away in order to win a life-changing cash prize. Players are fatally eliminated through a series of terrifying and brutal childhood games until only one remains.
However, fans may have to wait a little longer before returning to the games. “Right now, we’re working on the script and shaping the story,” executive producer Kim Ji-Yeon tells Tudum.
“And also, there is definitely a lot of pressure on how to improve Season 2.” I know a lot of different fans and audiences have enjoyed the series, but we’re really trying to figure out how to make it even more enjoyable for everyone.”
Hwang confirms that some familiar faces will return next season, despite the fact that the second season is still in its early stages. Gi-hun, last year’s winner, will return with ‘The Front Man’, as well as a brand new character.
On 12th June, 2022, the official platform for squid game on twitter made notice to the show’s fans the continuation of the series.
Young-hee, everyone’s favorite killer doll, is no longer for sale, and viewers will meet her boyfriend Cheol-su.
Maybe the couple will perform a romantic duet right before they give you that lethal look.
“The man in the suit with ddakji might be back,” Hwang added. Because the game isn’t over yet, it’s time to play the “Pink Soldiers” theme song.
What will become of Gi-hun and his associates in the next season?
