MP for Cape Coast South, Ricketts-Hagan says there are economic problems that have long been existing in the country but was recently uncovered by the Russia-Ukraine war.
In a talk on The Big Issue on Citi TV, the Member of Parliament described how successful the Finance Minister was as a private businessman but failed as a Finance Minister.
According to Mr. Ricketts-Hagan, the country has a structural problem exposed by Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine that requires a long term solution.
“We have a structural problem in our economy that requires a long-term solution but we have immediate problems exposed by Covid and Russia-Ukraine war but what they have done is to expose the structural problem. Unfortunately, we talk about IMF as if they are the ones causing the problem.”
He added that, the government’s decision to making the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta the lead negotiator for the negotiations between IMF should be rescinded.
Mr. Ricketts-Hagan emphasised on the need for Mr. Ofori-Atta to resign from office on his own before he’s removed.
