Ghana Meteorological Agency (G-Met) speaking on Eyewitness News yesterday says most parts of Ghana especially Accra got flooded again after yesterday’s heavy rains.
Some areas were flooded, according to a newspaper review on the Citi Breakfast Show with host Bernard Avle.
Adabraka, the usual suspect, Accra central, Osu, Kaneshi trade fair area, Koforidua in the Adweso estate in the Eastern, Central, and Western regions were all flooded.
The weather in southern Ghana remains cloudy, with the possibility of rain and thunder.
According to the National Disaster Management Organization’s (NADMO) Director of Communication, George Ayisi, the only solution to the continuous flooding in Accra and other parts of Ghana is a major re-engineering of drains and drainage systems.
He claims that the cause of the floods is poor drainage systems, which should be redesigned to avoid floods.
The recent floods resulted in significant loss of life and property.
Ghana Meteorological Agency says it is cash trapped since Airport civil Aviation owes them $80 million dollars.
“We are handicapped in our operations and finding it difficult to give accurate whether forecast due to financial problems.”
G-Met says some state agencies like the Ghana Airport company and Ghana civil aviation owe them and has failed to pay for their services rendered to them.
